The Lancaster Science Factory has commissioned Jeffrey Zachmann to create a Kinetic Sculpture. Jeff Zachmann is known around the world for his large and small scale Kinetic sculptures. All of his sculptures feature mechanical movements of machinery and rolling balls. Jeffrey is now building a one-of-a-kind interactive sculpture for the Science Factory.Visitors will be able to direct ascending and descending balls within the sculpture to conduct experiments in potential and kinetic energy.
Zachmann, an artist from Fergus Falls in Minnesota, says; "I see my work not only as sculptural machines, but also as studies in line, shape, color and motion. I find the biggest challenge with my work is balancing the technical structure with artistic needs. My goal is to make my sculptures intriguing static pieces, that when set in motion, become captivating."
Jeff's sculpture will be delivered and installed in October, 2007.
